Simple Span Members with Uniform Loading

As mentioned in the previous example, a more useful spreadsheet would allow us to specify:

  • Member length

  • Member size

  • Allowable stresses

  • Loading

for a particular use then see the resulting stresses and deflection.

In this first of four examples, the user is asked to alter the BOLD text values to suit his/her individual needs. 

The section properties of the member are calculated for you.  Maximum stresses are checked and the deflection of the member at mid-span is presented.
